Handbag maker joins legal action group

Upmarket handbag maker Radley has taken legal action to get Aviva to cover some of its £30m losses from the pandemic.

Radley has joined the Hospitality Insurance Group Action (Higa) which believes Aviva’s policy wording makes it liable, according to The Sunday Times.

Higa is made up of hotels, bars and cafes clubbed together to get money from insurers.

Higa’s potential compensation will depend on the verdict of the high court battle between the FCA and insurers currently taking place. Click here to see coverage.

Radley chief executive Justin Stead said: ”We are simply asking Aviva to do the right thing.”

Earlier today Hiscox raised reserving amid potentially ’the largest insured loss in history’.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
