Ardonagh has appointed Chris Lay as an operating partner at Ardonagh Capital Partners.

Lay, who most recently served as chief executive at Marsh UK, will work on group strategy and deploy his experience across the Ardonagh portfolio of companies.
Lay said: “Over the past nine years, Ardonagh has built a formidable portfolio on the international stage, with talented teams, strong businesses and an entrepreneurial culture.
”I’m very much looking forward to working on the group strategy and helping support the next phase of its development.”
Experience
Lay, who has 40 years of industry experience, became chief executive at Marsh UK in 2018. However, in November 2025, it was announced he would retire from the firm in Q1 2026.

He currently serves as chair of the London Market Group and Chair of Insurance United Against Dementia. He is also a non-executive director of Convex Group.

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
