The biggest story this week was Admiral announcing that it is set to cut hundreds of jobs from its UK insurance business as part of a wider transformation programme linked to its previously announced £100m cost-saving target.

The insurer said the plans relate solely to its UK insurance operations and form part of the efficiency programme unveiled alongside its full year 2025 results in March.

Readers were also interested in Uinsure launching a new home insurance monitoring service in what it claims is a UK first.

The service allows a customer’s policy to be compared against live quotes from Uinsure’s panel of seven UK insurers several times a year, not just at renewal.

The third most read story was HDI Global UK and Ireland appointing Louise Radford as active underwriter for Lloyd’s Syndicate 2029.

In her new role, Radford will have overall responsibility for the syndicate’s underwriting strategy, portfolio performance, regulatory compliance and risk appetite.

Then, Open GI officially appointed ex-Aviva c-suite James Barnard as its new group chief executive.

Barnard was named as the new boss in April 2026, with the move being made official on 23 September 2026.

Finally, JMG Group appointed Phil O’Toole as chief financial officer and Lisa Tucker as general counsel.

Both appointments are based at the broker’s London office and bring experience in supporting private equity-backed businesses through periods of growth, acquisition activity and operational development.
