We entered Security Committee-in-a-Box because it was created to solve a very real challenge for brokers – how to carry out meaningful, consistent insurer oversight without turning the process into another regulatory box-ticking exercise.

The platform brings together independent data across claims, complaints, solvency and underwriting performance, giving brokers a practical framework for assessing insurer partners and evidencing their decisions. We felt the Innovation of the Year category was the right place to showcase an approach that combines data, technology and industry insight to support better product governance and customer outcomes.

What do you think makes your entry stand out and why should you win the award?

What makes Security Committee-in-a-Box stand out is the way it turns a complex and time-consuming oversight process into something practical, consistent and evidence-led. Rather than relying on fragmented information or subjective assessments, brokers can access a 360-degree view of insurer performance, supported by clear RAG scorecards across the areas that matter most to a broker.

It gives firms a repeatable framework they can use across their insurer panels, while still allowing for professional judgement. We believe it should win because it addresses a genuine industry problem with a solution that is both innovative and immediately usable.

What would winning this award mean to you and your firm?

Winning would be a significant endorsement of what we are building at Insurance DataLab and of the work that has gone into developing Security Committee-in-a-Box. As a growing business, recognition from Insurance Times awards would give us even greater confidence that we are solving an important problem for the market in the right way.

More importantly, it would help raise awareness of the need for stronger, more evidence-led insurer oversight and show that better governance does not have to mean more bureaucracy. It would be a fantastic achievement and mean a lot to us to take home another trophy.
