‘I’m delighted to be joining IQUW at such an exciting stage in its growth,’ says new appointee

Specialty (re)insurer IQUW has expanded its specialty underwriting team capacity with the appointment of Alex Gregory.

Gregory joins from Munich Re Speciality, where he spent the last two and a half years specialising in underwriting terrorism and political violence risks.

Prior to his time at Munich Re, Gregory spent eight years working as a reinsurance broker at the now rebranded reinsurance and capital advisory division of Aon, Aon Benfield.

IQUW said Gregory’s new role would focus on building “innovative reinsurance solutions, leveraging data insights and strengthening relationships with brokers”.

He will report directly to Dan Warburg, IQUW’s head of London market reinsurance.

IQUW also announced a raft of promotions in reinsurance underwriting positions, with Chris Parkes, Gregor Lockhart-Smith and Sabina Ahmad all being recognised, a fact which IQUW said reiterated their commitment to ”nurture, recognise and retain high-potential talent”.

Reinforced commitments

Steven Tebbutt, IQUW active underwriter, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Gregory into our London reinsurance team and equally proud to empower Parkes, Lockhart-Smith and Ahmad through these well-deserved promotions.

“These changes support our 2026 ambitions and reinforce our commitment to building a robust, data-driven reinsurance capability, underpinned by market leading talent who can deliver intelligent underwriting and seamless risk solutions.”

The new appointee added: “I’m delighted to be joining IQUW at such an exciting stage in its growth. The business has built strong momentum in the reinsurance market.

“I’m looking forward to working with Warburg and the team to further develop our broker partnerships and support IQUW’s reputation as a lead reinsurance market.”
