’As political instability and security-related risks continue to challenge businesses operating internationally, it is essential that we support our clients through our product offering,’ says head

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM) has said that eligible political risk insurance clients will now get access to specialist security advice from independent consultancy Blackthorn Risk Group.

Businesses purchasing qualifying political risk cover through LSM’s London team will be able to opt in to a one-off consultation with a senior adviser from Blackthorn.

The initiative is designed to help companies operating internationally navigate growing political instability and security-related risks.

Clients who take up the offer will receive a 60-minute virtual consultation covering up to two insured locations.

Ahead of the session, Blackthorn will gather information about the client’s operations and risk exposures to tailor the discussion. Following the consultation, clients will receive a written summary setting out key observations and suggested next steps.

William Limb, head of political risk solutions at LSM, said the investment demonstrated the company’s commitment to providing a differentiated, market-leading offering to its clients.

He said: “As political instability and security-related risks continue to challenge businesses operating internationally, it is essential that we support our clients through our product offering.”

Beyond insurance cover

The service is available at no additional cost within the defined scope, subject to eligibility requirements.

The consultation is optional and will have no impact on a client’s insurance cover. It must be completed within 90 days of policy issuance and will be delivered directly by Blackthorn under its own terms of engagement.

Jerry Smith OBE, head of advisory at Blackthorn, said organisations operating in complex environments often recognised the need to address security risks but were unsure where to begin.

He added Blackthorn’s advisers could help clients better understand their exposures by providing “practical, actionable and prioritised insight”.
