’Their experience will sharpen Markel’s approach to broker partnerships and support our profitable growth ambitions,’ says broker divisional director

Markel has made two senior hires as it looks to grow its UK broker distribution and change capability.

The moves include Joanne Foreman being appointed head of broker change and Laura Fox being appointed head of distribution strategy.

Based in Manchester, Foreman will oversee transformational initiatives across broker touchpoints, ensuring operational changes are implemented to improve the broker experience and ease of trading.

Meanwhile, Fox will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, proposition and compliance of broker distribution channels from her office in Leeds.

Jo Sykes, broker divisional director at Markel, said: ”Bringing them into the broker team strengthens our strategic focus in the UK and reinforces our commitment to brokers.

“Their experience will sharpen Markel’s approach to broker partnerships and support our profitable growth ambitions.”

Promotion

Foreman and Fox join Charlotte Harrison, who has recently been promoted internally to head of strategic sales and relationships.

Harrison joined Markel in 2024 as head of regional broker development. In her new role, she will be responsible for leading and managing the distribution team and key external relationships.

Sykes said: “I’m equally pleased to see Harrison step into her new role. Her impact since joining has been exceptional and her internal promotion reflects the strength of talent within Markel.

”With this expanded leadership team and continued investment across underwriting, trading partner and digital operations, we’re building UK capability at every level of our broker‑servicing function.”
