Markel has appointed Lee Dainty as the new chief operations officer for its UK business.

Working across functional areas and in close partnership with Markel’s global business units, Dainty will shape the next phase of Markel’s operational, data and technology journey in the UK.
He will be based in the business’ Birmingham office and work across all Markel offices in the UK.
“I’m excited to join Markel at a time of significant growth and opportunity for the company,” said Dainty.

Experience
Dainty was previously vice president for commercial claims for the past seven years at Intact.

In a career spanning 30-years with the company, he has undertaken a wide range of operational, technical and senior leadership roles.
In his new role, he will report to Lee Mooney, UK managing director at Markel.

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
