’I’m excited by the opportunities and challenges this role brings,’ says appointee

Markerstudy has appointed Tony Welch as its new chief procurement officer.

The role will see Welch lead on all end-to-end procurement activities, including further strengthening supplier governance, optimising risk-management frameworks and embedding digital capabilities.

He brings 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, with his career including senior roles for Close Brothers, JLT Group, Accenture and Willis Towers Watson. Most recently, he was chief procurement officer at Lloyd’s.

Speaking about taking up his new role, Welch said: “I’m excited by the opportunities and challenges this role brings.

”My passion lies in showcasing procurement’s value as a strategic enabler and my focus will be to work with the team to ensure we’re continually innovating to be best in class with our colleagues, customers and partners at the heart of everything we do.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
