‘As we grow, we’re investing in technology and data that genuinely support underwriting performance and make it easier to do business,’ says chief operating officer

Specialty MGA Hive Underwriters has appointed George Stylli to the role of chief technology officer.

Stylli joins from specialty (re)insurance business Inigo, where he has spent four years leading the firm’s engineering department.

His 20 years of London market experience also includes 16 years at Lloyd’s managing agent Atrium Underwriters, where he latterly spent a decade serving as head of business solutions.

Hive said the appointment marked an important step in its “investment in top talent, advanced digital infrastructure and knowledge-led underwriting”.

It also said that in his previous positions, Stylli had led the “delivery of complex, scalable platforms, modernised underwriting workflows and driven technology-enabled transformation across multiple specialty insurance classes”.

Strong track record

Crispin Marsland-Roberts, chief operating officer at Hive Underwriters, said: “Stylli brings deep London market experience and a strong track record of building high-performing technology teams.

“As we grow, we’re investing in technology and data that genuinely support underwriting performance and make it easier to do business. Stylli’s leadership will be central to how we evolve our use of data, automation and market connectivity, and we’re excited about what comes next.”

The new appointee added: “What attracted me to the business is the clear intent to put technology, data and intelligent automation at the heart of underwriting and exposure management, while working seamlessly within the wider London market ecosystem.

“I’m excited to help build an agent-first platform that integrates cleanly with market systems, uses AI and advanced analytics to enable faster, smarter risk selection and supports Hive’s continued, responsible growth.”
