’The London insurance market plays a pivotal role in Marsh’s global placement strategy,’ says new appointee

Insurance broker Marsh has appointed John Donnelly as its new global head of placement, a statement released yesterday (6 November 2023) said.

Based in London, Donnelly will take responsibility for retail and wholesale broking activities and work with regional placement leaders across the firm.

He will also look to advance Marsh’s global placement strategy and lead digital market engagement initiatives.

“The London insurance market plays a pivotal role in Marsh’s global placement strategy and securing the best outcomes for our clients,” Donnelly said.

“Through greater collaboration and strengthening our focus on placement, we will increase our ability to support clients as they respond to new and emerging risks.”

Experience

Donnelly began his career with Marsh in 1983 and later moved to Aon to become the chief broking officer in the Pacific region.

He returned to Marsh in 2013 to become the broker’s head of placement for Asia Pacific.

He will take up his new role on 1 January 2024 and report to Pat Donnelly, president of Marsh Specialty and global placement.
