The new hire has previously worked at firms such as Hastings Direct, Broker Network and Lloyd’s

Qlaims, the holding company for MGA Qlaims Insurance and claims technology business QlaimsTech, has appointed Liz Latter as its new chief commercial officer.

In this role, Latter will be responsible for the business’s insurance partnerships, including its broker clients.

Latter has 25 years of industry experience to bring to her new position. She has dealt with sales and business development, B2B marketing and brought new propositions to market during the course of her career so far.

Latter has served tenures at a host of well-known businesses, such as Hastings Direct, Broker Network, Equity Insurance, Lloyd’s and Travellers, as well as technology companies including CGI, Sapiens and SSP.

She will join Qlaims from Saga Services, where she acted as commercial director.

Qlaims founder and chief executive Malcolm Harvey said: “We’re delighted to have Liz join the team. Her breadth of experience, and particularly her expertise with new business and growth strategies, is just what Qlaims needs as we move into the next phase of our development.”

Claims focus

For Latter, Qlaims’s focus on the claims experience was pivotal in her decision to join the firm.

She said: “Insurance businesses have invested in front-end customer acquisition, whether that’s via brokers or directly, and there has been significant improvements in customer experience. However, the claims functions often lag behind in their ability to support customers.

“What excites me about the Qlaims proposition is that it’s focused on helping customers through that claims process, acting as their advocate and speeding up their settlement.”

The emphasis on technology during the Covid-19 pandemic has also been beneficial for Qlaims and is something Latter is keen to build on with the company’s broker partners.

“Over the last few months, the industry has had little choice but to rely on technology to assess, document and process claims, and that’s clearly here to stay.

“The QlaimsTech proposition offered to brokers of Qlaims Insurance enables them to deliver a superior service to their customers - facilitating faster settlements as well as reducing costs to insurers. It’s a simple, smart and secure solution that is well positioned during this time of change to help brokers differentiate themselves from the competition.

“I feel lucky to join Qlaims as it enters into its growth phase. It has an exciting proposition and brokers are already placing business and using the technology. I look forward to taking the business to a wider, and increasingly receptive, audience.”
