The move will complement the group’s presence in the Southwest
Insurance organisation Seventeen Group has completed the purchase of broker Torbay Insurance Services (TIS).
The Devon-based broker currently handles £1.4m of gross written premium and is led by director John Stott. It serves clients throughout Torbay, South Devon and the wider West Country.
It will continue to operate out of its offices in Torquay, where it has been trading for over 40 years, and trade under the TIS brand.
Paul Anscombe, chief executive of Seventeen Group, explained that the acquisition would support James Hallam – the group’s broking subsidiary.
He said: “We are delighted to welcome John and his team on board with Seventeen Group. TIS is not only an excellent local broker in the Torbay area but also complements our Southwest presence.
“Our broking subsidiary James Hallam now has offices in Plymouth, Penzance and Torquay through which we can offer a number of our specialist products and services relevant to the Southwest region including hospitality, events, fish processors and marine and marine trades.”
Seventeen Group’s acquisition of TIS follows its purchase of Cornwall-based broker Christopher Rowe Limited in May 2021, which helped to build its presence in the Southwest.
