The firm’s outbound CUO will be moving up the ranks to head up the firm’s arm in the Netherlands

Insurer UK P&I Club has today (1 September 2022) appointed William Beveridge as its new chief underwriting officer (CUO), effective from 17 September 2022.

Beveridge joins from Newline Underwriting – the international insurance division of Odyssey Group – where he served as CUO, bringing both commercial and underwriting expertise to the role.

In his new role, Beveridge will report to chief executive Andrew Taylor and will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s underwriting policies and operations.

He replaces Christopher Brown, who will begin his new role as top boss of the firm’s Rotterdam-based subsidiary – UK P&I Club N.V (UKNV).

Hugo Wynn-Williams, meanwhile, is stepping down as chief executive of UKNV and will continue in his advisory role for the group and its clients as president of Thomas Miller Bermuda.

Warm welcome

Taylor said: “As we continue to pursue our diversification and growth strategy, William’s experience as an underwriter of the marine and wider insurance market will play a significant role in the further development of the club and continue our tradition of excellence in disciplined underwriting and quality risk selection.

“I look forward to working alongside William and warmly welcome him to the UK Club.”

The club writes all European risk through UKNV, which provides a fronting solution for several other Thomas Miller managed clubs in Europe.

Clubs belonging to Thomas Miller include the TT Club, which provides insurance and risk management services to the transport and logistics industry, and the UK Defence Club, which provides freight demurrage and defence (FD&D) insurance to the maritime industry.
