The new hire has over 20 years’ experience in fighting fraud within the insurance sector

MGA Markerstudy Group has today (31 August 2022) appointed Clare Lunn as its new head of counter fraud in a move that it said would cement its “commitment to tackling fraud”.

Lunn has previously chaired the General Insurance Fraud Committee (GIFC) for more than three years and will be responsible for leading and crafting Markerstudy’s fraud preventing strategy.

The GIFC was created in 2017 to offer technical support to the Insurance Fraud Bureau, the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department and the Insurance Fraud Register.

Lunn previously worked at insurer LV= as head of claims crime prevention for nearly nine years, leaving in January 2020 to take up her role at the GIFC.

As part of her work at LV=, Lunn also took on the role of director of fraud for the last three years of her time there.

As part of her new role, Lunn will also host a series of webinars aimed at providing brokers insight into what the industry and Markerstudy is focusing on in terms of fraud prevention and detection.

Pivotal role

Lunn said: “I’m exciting to have joined Markerstudy and be championing our fraud agenda. Threats are continuing to evolve, especially in the current economic climate, so it’s important we stay agile and ahead of the curve to safeguard our business, industry and – ultimately – our customers.”

As head of counter fraud, Lunn will report to Markerstudy chief operating officer Gary Hueting.

Hueting said: “Having recently chaired the GIFC for over three years and with over 20 years’ experience in the industry, Clare is a true fraud prevention advocate.

“She has already been pivotal in making important changes as we continue to tackle new and emerging risks and we’re thrilled she is part of our future as we continue to fight fraud.”
