The firm’s customer director has been promoted into the newly created role

Markerstudy Group-owned BGL Insurance has promoted its customer director Laura Mullaney into the newly created role of managing director of distribution, effective from 1 August 2022.

In this position, Mullaney will lead the digital business’ growth and distribution agenda for both its own brands and affinity partnerships – its brands include Budget Insurance, Dial Direct and Jaunt.

She will also oversee the firm’s new business pipeline, exploring opportunities for strategic fit partners, and have responsibility for new customer propositions.

Reporting to BGL Insurance chief executive Peter Thompson, Mullaney will additionally join the broking company’s executive committee.

Speaking on the appointment, Thompson said: “I’m excited to see Laura take on her next challenge.

“With her digital insight, commercial expertise and customer focused approach, I’m confident that Laura will drive us to capitalise on the huge opportunities we have as a business, building on the great momentum already in place as we move into the next phase of our growth.”

Looking ahead

Mullaney has been at BGL Insurance for the past 10 years, joining from banking organisation Barclays.

During her tenure so far, she has been involved in the digital development of insurance partnerships and helped build the broker’s customer propositions.

Mullaney said: “I’m looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that this new the role will bring.

“BGL Insurance has always been ambitious in terms of what we deliver for our customers and it’s exciting to be working with such experienced and talented colleagues to continue evolving our propositions for the future.”

BGL Insurance was bought by Markerstudy Group in May 2022 – the firms initially announced the deal in January 2022.
