Norwich Union's (NU) intermediary business director Ken Wallace has announced his retirement after 40 years with the company.

Wallace, 58, will step down from the post at the end of May. He will remain a board director until September.

A successor has not been named.

Wallace joined Norwich Union in Edinburgh in 1965. His career path to intermediary business director has been varied.

He held the post of group training manager and later joined the corporate team with responsibility for human resource development.

In 1992 Wallace headed up the business development operation for UK personal lines book. After four years he took on responsibility for NU's UK general insurance business.

He was appointed intermediary business director after the merger of Norwich Union and CGU.
