15% of British people admit to never purchasing travel insurance, according to a Give as you Live survey

More than one in 10 British holidaymakers will not have travel insurance for their Easter holiday breaks.

In research conducted by shopping and fundraising site Give as you Live, 15% of the 2,000 British people surveyed admitted that they never buy travel insurance when they go on holiday.

16 to 24 year-olds are least likely to purchase travel insurance, with a fifth (20%) saying they do not buy it.

In addition, Belfast and Edinburgh residents were some of the riskiest UK travellers, with a fifth in each city (20%) saying that they would never buy travel insurance.

The 35 to 44 year-old age bracket was most likely to buy travel insurance every time they go on holiday. Just under a third (32%) said they always buy travel insurance.

Greg Hallett, managing director at Give as you Live, commented, “It’s easy to assume you don’t need travel insurance on holiday if you aren’t going too far or it’s not a sporting holiday like skiing, but you never know when disaster might strike – whether it’s a broken leg, petty theft, or something far more serious. Travel insurance doesn’t need to be costly, particularly if bought through comparison sites like ours – and in fact, it should be considered an investment in your peace of mind.  It’s always better to be safe than sorry and to be able to enjoy our holidays without the worry of forking out extra costs if something goes wrong.”
