Hull-based broker Oughtred & Harrison Insurance has been put into voluntary liquidation.

Earlier this year, it sold its commercial lines book to Smart & Cook and its personal lines book to Swinton .

Oughtred & Harrison Insurance director David Murray Wells said that the liquidation, which involved no staff redundancies or insurer debts, was necessary in order to hand over outstanding pensions review cases to the FSA.

He said that these cases dated back several years to when the company also sold life insurance products.

The liquidation does not affect any of Oughtred & Harrison's other businesses, which include container shipping and freight forwarding, and building ambulances and mini-buses.
