West Sussex-based Primary Insurance Group is offering a special travel policy for students embarking on a gap year – the year out many students take before attending university.

The policy, which costs £118.85, includes £3 million of medical cover and air ambulance repatriation costs when necessary. There is also £1,500 cancellation or curtailment cover, £10,000 worth of personal accident benefit and £1 million personal liability cover and £1,000 baggage cover. Other benefits include missed departure and legal advice expenses.

Around 800,000 people claim on their travel insurance each year, according to the firm.

Primary's John Bibby added the following caveat: "Always advise your customers to thoroughly read through their policy so they know exactly what they are covered for. If there is anything they don't understand, they should seek advice from someone who does."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
