Loss adjuster Quest Gates has continued to strengthen its team at the expense of its bigger competitors with appointments from Capita and GAB Robins.

Paul Thomas, a senior major loss director with a long history at Capita and before that McLarens, is to start in the New Year.

And Alan Dobson, formerly of GAB Robins, is to head up a new environmental division for Quest Gates.

Both are believed to have brought with them a portfolio of major clients.

Quest Gates managing director Chris Hall said: "The deliberate aim we have is to recruit people with a specialist expertise."

Quest Gates' new environmental claims unit will address both legal liability and material damage aspects of an environmental incident.

Dobson said: "The unit has been established to recognise and cater for increased insurer demand as a result of increasing UK and European environmental legislation.

"This has resulted in more stringent control of environmental pollution in the UK, which in turn has brought with it a greater degree of accountability and hence additional claim exposure."

Dobson has over 20 years'experience in the area, having worked on major chemical, hydrocarbon and radioactive contamination incidents.
