Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) has awarded Yorkshire Martyrs & Tong School Sports College its prize for innovation.

The college, attended by pupils from 11-18, was awarded the £5,000 prize which rewards innovation, and getting uninterested pupils to take part in sport.

It beat 99 other colleges because of its sports mentoring programme which includes self-esteem building, stress relief and anger management sessions.

UK marketing and services manager John Hymers said: "The Youth Sport Trust is a very exciting sponsorship for us. We are delighted to support programmes that encourage social inclusion as this is at the very heart of our Community Investment Sponsorship programme."
