Chief executives will vote to find ‘first among equals’

Nominees for the Insurer CEO's CEO Award at the Insurance Times Awards 2013

Six insurer chief executives have been nominated for one of the most coveted titles in the UK general insurance industry – the Insurer CEOs’ CEO of the Year.

Presented at the Insurance Times Awards 2013, the award will be voted for by chief executives of top UKGI insurers.

The shortlist was identified by a panel of four judges including: Oval chief executive Peter Blanc, Insurance Times assistant editor - finance Ben Dyson, Insurance Times editor Saxon East, and Allianz former head of commercial lines Chris Hanks.

Previous winners of the Insurer CEOs’ CEO of the Year title include Allianz’s Andrew Torrance and Sabre Insurance’s Keith Morris, who were both recognised for their outstanding leadership skills during difficult times.

In a closed vote, insurer chief executives will be asked to select their outstanding peer from a shortlist of six:

  • AIG managing director Nicolas Aubert impressed the judges with his ability to lead his business through major change, including a company restructure, rebrand and re-underwriting of the portfolio into a real force in the market”.
  • RSA UK and western Europe chief executive Adrian Brown was selected for his leadership through some difficult years, and for laying solid foundations for the company’s growth.
  • Admiral chief executive Henry Engelhardt was chosen for his “no-nonsense style” and ability to produce market-beating results in motor, one of the most difficult business lines in UKGI.
  • Zurich UKGI chief executive Stephen Lewis was selected by the judges for “continuing to steer Zurich on the path that brokers really appreciate – consistency, dependability and solid financial performance”.
