Commercial broker joins less than 100 brokers with title

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has awarded the ‘Chartered Insurance Brokers’ title to Leeds-based commercial broker Square Mile Broking (SMB).

SMB director David Garrad (pictured) said that securing Chartered Insurance Broker status - awarded to firms that meet rigorous criteria relating to professionalism and capability - is a landmark moment for the company.

“We’re proud to have been awarded the prestigious title ‘Chartered Insurance Brokers’ after a focused approach by the management and our team to attain this status.

“It confirms our approach to being thoroughly professional in everything we do, and to receive external recognition in this way is very gratifying.”

So far less than 100 firms have achieved chartered status.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
