Broking group Swinton closed its branch in Leek, Staffordshire on 18 June.

The Leek Post & Times reported that the broker’s Leek branch clients will now be served by its Hanley branch.

The paper quoted a letter to customers from Swinton distribution director Richard Beaven, which said: “If you would like to talk to us in person about anything to do with insurance, you can do so in any of our branches.

“However on Saturday 18 June, 2016, the Leek Branch will be closing, and the team at the Hanley branch will look after you.”

Swinton is overhauling its high-street presence. It opened a revamped Preston branch last week, which will serve as a pilot.

In February this year the broker announced a plan to close 130 high-street branches by mid-2017, cutting its branch numbers to 195 from 325.
