Personal lines broker Swinton has bought nine brokers so far this year and plans to acquire another four to six businesses each month.

The personal lines book of Grimsby-based broker Oughtred & Harrison, with premium income of £4.2m, is among the acquisitions Swinton has made so far this year.

Yorkshire-based broker Smart and Cook bought Oughtred & Harrison's commercial business.

Other personal lines brokers Swinton has recently acquired include The John Smith Group in Birmingham, Hawkins Spence Insurance in

Redcar and Ladybird Insurance in Warrington.

Swinton director Peter Halpin said that the company will acquire five more personal lines brokers in March and another five in April.
