Startups and established names alike honoured at the Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards 2017

There were two double winners at tonight’s Insurance Times Tech & Innovation Awards 2017, with telematics-driven firms Smart Driver Club and Insure The Box scooping two awards each.

Smart Driver Club, which offers telematics-based insurance and was launched last year by former Wunelli managing director Penny Searles, won Best Use of Technology for Customer Experience in the general category and Insurance Start-up of the Year in the year in the technology category.

Fellow double winner, telematics-backed underwriting agency Insure The Box, picked up the insurer Technology Innovation of the Year and Data Analytics Excellence awards.

The winners’ roster also included prominent insurtech startups Neos and RightIndem (see below for full list of winners)

The Tech Champion of the Year award, the one individual award in the ceremony, went to HomeServe Labs managing director Craig Foster. HomeServe Labs is the innovation unit of home emergency firm and insurance broker HomeServe. The division is best known for its LeakBot smart leak detector.
