The Broker Network has the opportunity to act autonomously after launching its new underwriting agency, Broker Network Underwriting.

Managing director Grant Ellis said he was aware that, despite good results, insurers did not give brokers the recognition they deserved.

"Our intention was to stop that happening and act on our own performance," he said.

"It's about time we got the opportunity to do that."

The agency will initially offer a shops and offices package backed by AXA, alongside high net worth cover through Hiscox.

Underwriting manager Debi Mawer said: "We aim to write £2m of shops and offices business in the first year.

"And will also be looking to achieve significant growth with our mid net worth and commercial combined propositions."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
