The chairman of Wellington Underwriting has resigned just weeks after the company was sold to fellow Lloyd's insurer, Catlin.
John Barton, the chairman of clothes retailer Next and non-executive director of WH Smith, left the company on 31 December 2006 after joining the board in November 1999.
The departure of the former chairman of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLT) comes after David Gittings left his post as group head of risk to join the Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) as chief executive.
Meanwhile, Catlin has confirmed that two senior aviation insurance underwriters have also left Wellington.
Robert Swinton and Noel Holloway, the head and deputy head of Wellington's aviation team, left the company earlier this week.
This follows the departure of other senior members in its marine, bloodstock/livestock and property divisions.
