Andrew D'Arcy assumes newly created senior management position.

Wesleyan Assurance Society has appointed Andrew D’Arcy as director of general insurance.

The new senior management position, reporting to the director of customer services, has been created to develop the society’s general insurance business and expand the product range available to its core professional client base that includes doctors, dentists, lawyers and teachers.

Martin Howard, director of customer services, said: “I’m extremely pleased to welcome Andrew to the team. He has wide-ranging industry experience and a solid grasp of how the general insurance business works. He also has a proven track record of delivering results in a tight timescale, effecting strategic change and providing tailored solutions. One of Andrew’s first tasks will be to develop a strategy outlining how we can grow our general insurance business.”

D'Arcy joins Wesleyan from RBS where he worked for over seven years in a number of different roles including managing director of group insurance services and, most recently, managing director, consumer finance for Europe.

D'Arcy said: “Wesleyan is a unique business and there is enormous potential to develop general insurance services to our niche client markets. We already offer access to some excellent products, such as a commitment to beat any surgery insurance quote by 10%. However, there is potential to introduce new tailored products, which will be of real value to our customers and to grow the business to a significant size."
