Louise Miller has been appointed senior sales executive with the new business team at Allan Chapman & James. She was previously group broking manager with Layton Blackham and in her new job will concentrate on the media and contract furnishing industries. She has 15 years' experience. In other news, Tony Wright has been appointed as an independent financial adviser. He has six years' experience in the industry and was previously with Wesleyan Financial Services before moving to London-based accountants Giant.

Beckett Group
Simon Hill has been appointed as a financial services consultant to The Beckett Remington Collins Group.

Insurers
St Paul
Mick Laws and Peter O'Grady have been appointed regional underwriters at St Paul International Insurance Company. Laws joins from Independent and will be based in Newcastle; he will work with brokers in the North East of England. O'Grady joins from Gan Insurance and will work with brokers in the North West.

CIGNA
Teresa Rogers has been appointed to the newly-created role of international account manager at CIGNA. She previously worked for Aon Consulting and PPP. Her new remit includes management and renewal negotiations for CIGNA's international client portfolio.

Avon
Adrian Johnson has been appointed City manager for the London office of Avon Insurance. He has been with Avon for five years and has held various underwriting positions. Prior to that he was with Prudential.

Hibernian Group
Gary Owens has been appointed executive director of Hibernian Group and managing director of Hibernian Insurance Company. Eddie Shaw retired from both positions last week. Owens joined Hibernian Life as sales director in 1994 and was made general manger of the group last year.

Direct Line
Oliver Prill has been appointed as managing director of e-commerce at Direct Line to oversee the development of the company's e-commerce strategy. He was previously with management consultants McKinsey. During his time there, he became the youngest senior project manager of the London office, focusing on building internet business both in the UK and continental Europe.

RSA
Rod Kitchen, Phil Davies, Colvin Rae and Mike Jakeman have all been appointed to the board of Royal & SunAlliance.

Lloyd's
Lloyd's Insurance Services
John Jackson has been appointed media relations consultant with Lloyd's Insurance Services. He previously worked with Insurance Age magazine and has written extensively on the industry.

Syndicate 2345
David Woodruff and his underwriting team of Martin Rowling and John Cross have been appointed by QBE Underwriting Agency to Syndicate 2345, a new non-marine syndicate writing for the 2000 year of account. The team will operate as a "sub-syndicate" of the QBE "umbrella" syndicate 2999. The new entity will specialise in niche products for high-technology industries. Woodruff will be active underwriter, Rowling will be deputy underwriter and Cross will be liability underwriter. All three were previously with Syndicate 1236 in similar positions.

Loss Adjusters
Quest Gates
Grant Shipway and Ian Stevens have been appointed to Quest Gates Partnership to work as liability adjusters. Shipway was previously with the claims department at J & H Marsh McLennan and before that with Eagle Star and Royal Sun Alliance. Stevens previously worked with Macalisters and Knowles loss adjusters.

Technology
Cornwell
Bernard Levins has been appointed practice director at IT and strategic consultancy Cornwell Affiliates. He was previously principal consultant in the financial services practice of James Martin & Co and a member of the UK management team. Levins' new post will see him continue the development of insurance and other financial services consulting work at Cornwell.
