History: Woolwich Insurance Services was established in 1995. A member of the Woolwich Group, the company's primary area of business is the provision of home and family-related insurance services. Now incorporated into Barclays (see page 36).
Its product portfolio includes buildings and contents, motor, pet and travel insurance, with an ongoing remit to develop other relevant services in response to customer demand.
In 1997, the company focused on building up its retail business and investing in branch advisers. In parallel, there was a succession of new service developments, augmenting household insurance with motor (January 1997), travel (February 1997) and pet (August 1997) products.
