The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has appointed Graham Spittles, chief underwriter for Royal & SunAlliance UK Life & Pensions, as chairman of its Life Assurance and Medical Affairs Committee (LAMAC).

He will be responsible for examining the scope for synergy for medical and other risk assessment issues across all life and health product ranges, among other things.

He has been chief underwriter at R&SA for seven years. He is already a member of LAMAC and the ABI's Genetics Committee.

The head of health insurance at the ABI, Richard Walsh, said: "Graham's appointment further enhances the skills and expertise available to the ABI, on issues affecting life and health insurance. We are delighted that he has accepted this role."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
