Insurance Times rounds up the biggest moves and promotions from 30 June to 4 July 2025

This week’s biggest people move came following last week’s news that Adam Winslow and other members of the Direct Line Group (DLG) leadership team would step down following the completion of Aviva’s acquisition.

As the deal finalised on Wednesday, Aviva announced that Owen Morris, who was its managing director for personal lines, will become its new chief executive of personal lines, with responsibility for the combined personal lines operations of Aviva and the acquired DLG operations.

Morris will report to Jason Storah, UK and Ireland general insurance chief executive at Aviva.

Also this week, on Monday, Liberty Speciality Markets appointed Niala Butt as its new head of casualty claims for the UK.

Butt brings more than 28 years of industry experience to the role and most recently served as casualty claims manager at CNA Hardy for three years.

She will be based in London and report to Nik Mahida, head of third-party claims for the UK and Mena at Liberty.

On the same day as Aviva’s news broke, Accenture appointed a new insurance industry lead for the UK, Ireland and Africa market.

In his new role, Will Pritchett will oversee acquisitions and client work and help drive innovation across technology, operations and digital reinvention.

The appointee has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and previously worked at firms including RSA and KPMG.

Broker trade body Biba reshuffled its main board this week too, announcing that Marsh’s international corporate and commercial leader Alistair Fraser would become chair of the Large Brokers’ Advisory Board (LBAB), while Phil Williams, group chief commercial officer at Clear Group has been appointed deputy chair.

These changes come following Carl Evans, chair of professional risks division at Griffiths and Armour, stepping down as chair of LBAB.

Topping off the week, insurance software provider Open GI announced its own hiring coup with the appointment of former Confused.com chief technology officer Andy Brockway as its new CTO.

Brockway will lead Open GI’s technology directorate and brings more than 20 years of experience in technology leadership to his new role.
