Insurance Times rounds up the biggest moves and promotions from 23 to 27 June 2025
Starting off the week, the International Underwriting Association reshaped its leadership team with multiple director-level appointments following the arrival of new chief executive Chris Jones.
Tom Hughes has been named director of underwriting, while Joe Shaw has taken on the role of director of claims.
Then, Direct Line Group (DLG) announced that chief executive Adam Winslow will step down from his role as chief executive following Aviva’s acquisition of the insurer.
Winslow took up the role in March 2024, joining from Aviva, where he served as the UK general insurance top boss for just under three years.
Following Aviva announcing its £3.7bn acquisition of DLG in December 2024, there has been speculation as to what would happen to Winslow’s position.
After that, Aviva’s Global Corporate and Specialty (GCS) business launched a new and unified real estate and construction client practice.
The new arm brings together the insurer’s construction, latent defects and real estate teams under a single strategic vision.
Following this, commercial and residential real estate MGA Ventis launched in Scotland under the leadership of Karen Feeney.
Feeney, who has been appointed as senior development underwriter, will oversee underwriting and distribution in the Scottish market in her new role.
Rounding off the week, Howden appointed Robert Kennedy as chief executive for the UK and Ireland (UK&I), with Carl Shuker moving to a new role.
Kennedy, who is currently chief executive at Howden Ireland, will take up his new role on 1 October 2025 and report into group chief executive David Howden.
He takes over from Carl Shuker, who will transition into the role of deputy chairman for the UK&I.
