The Association of British Insurers' (ABI) reinsurance committee is undergoing a major revamp, with new senior industry players joining up.

An ABI spokesman said no decision had been made on the exact membership yet.

"But it's going to be a more senior industry liaison committee, more of a forum for insurers and reinsurers to discuss issues and find solutions. All the major reinsurers will be represented."

The revamp is expected to be complete within a couple of months.

Insurers have welcomed the new committee as a chance to meet up with the decision-makers within the reinsurance companies.

They hope to discuss issues such as terrorism and third party motor liability cover.

It is hoped discussions will be underway ahead of the Monte Carlo rendezvous.
