Backchat congratulates AIG's top man Martin Sullivan. He was voted the British businessman with the most influence in the US by the Sunday Times this week.

A question mark hung over the future of AIG when Maurice 'Hank' Greenberg quit the company over accusations that he had personally engaged in some dodgy practices. It left the insurer facing some major problems.

Step forward Sullivan. The Sunday Times, says of him that he: "did much to calm the waters".

The share price has shot up, and AIG's share value has been reinstated since he took over. The company is now worth more than £177bn.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
