Broking giant Aon has welcomed the government's stance on tackling the compensation culture.
Responding to today's statement from the Department for Constitutional Affairs, Aon deputy chairman Max Taylor said: "We believe that there is a real and immediate need to address this problem, and we welcome the government's stated determination to tackle the ‘have a go culture' at source.”
"Our recent survey of 500 British businesses, ‘Compensation and Blame Culture: Reality or Myth?' provided hard evidence that UK businesses are increasingly hampered by the costs of dealing with a burgeoning compensation culture. 75% of the UK businesses we surveyed saw the current growing trend as creating an unsustainable burden for industry, commerce and public services. 62% have seen an overall increase in the cost of claims over the last five years.
"The evidence shows that UK businesses are picking up a significant burden in terms of managing increased insurance and regulatory cost. This is a damaging drain on management time and financial resources, and longer term may prove a major threat to profitability and jobs.”
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
