Beazley Group said it has agreed to acquire Sapphire Blue, the US insurer specialising in professional liability insurance for US healthcare institutions for an undisclosed sum.
Beazley said that gross premiums written by Sapphire exceeded $20m in 2006.
Johnny Rowell, head of Specialty Lines at Beazley, said:
"This acquisition underlines our commitment to the US healthcare professional liability market."
