Staff brought in to support new business growth

Leeds-based broker W Denis has made several appointments as it cements its plans to grow the business.

The Lloyd’s Insurance broker has hired Richard Evans as an associate director, and Mirelle Cox and Mathew Barker as corporate brokers. The trio join from Giles Insurance brokers and will operate from the Leeds office with immediate effect.

Steve Burbank has also joined W Denis from Oak Underwriting as a motor broker and will also be based at the Leeds head office, while Chris Spike has joined from Lark and will work as an account executive from W Denis’s London office in Lime Street.

Director Mark Dutton told Insurance Times: “We have created new roles to help us with our growth in the business. We have reached a point where we need additional staff to support the service we give to our clients.

“We have had a sharp increase on the volume of business, bolstered by the growth of our internal business team, which in turn offers more opportunities to grow more business.”

W Denis Insurance Brokers specialises in commercial and corporate risks and is a subsidiary of W Denis Group, which also include trade credit insurance and SME broking lines.

The group controls total premiums of about £100m and has has 70 staff.
