Flying glass has been found to be the most common cause of injury, and therefore claims, related to terrorist activity, glass retention specialist CPFilms has said.
It said shards from the World Trade Centre flew up to three quarters of mile from the collapsed buildings, while over 50% of injuries sustained in the Oklahoma city bombing were caused by flying glass.
CPFilm has claimed that the risk of injury from flying glass can be minimised installing its Llumar bomb blast window film. It said that in the attack on the pentagon on 11 September, although every piece of glass was broken, all splintered shards remained stuck to the film, which prevented injury and protected property.
In managing risk, protecting staff and minimising claims, CPFilms has also claimed the application of Llumar bomb blast window film will upgrade existing windows to European glazing safety regulations.
