David Townsend and Steve Shortland join the company’s corporate and major incident team

Crawford & Company UK has appointed two new specialists to its major incidents team.

David Townsend joins the company’s corporate and major incident team as a major loss specialist, based in London. Townsend began his career with McLarens, and eventually became an associate partner and complex team leader within the new Teceris entity.

David Damsell, head of Crawford’s corporate and major incident team, said: “David has 30 years’ experience of large and complex losses. This knowledge will be an invaluable asset to the existing team as we continue to grow.”

Also joining the major Incident team is Steve Shortland, who will be based at Crawford’s Birmingham office. Prior to re-joining Crawford, he was managing director of Claimsway. Before that, Shortland spent 8 years with Crawford, latterly as major loss director.

Benedict Burke, chief operating officer, UK & Ireland added: “I am delighted to welcome David and Steve. Crawford has a great track record of attracting staff of this calibre. Our Technical Services team, especially the Corporate and Major Incident unit, continues to go from strength to strength. We look forward to announcing further appointments in the near future.”
