Crowe Insurance is to revamp its Syndicate 1204, turning it into a professional indemnity unit following the capture of two underwriters from rival firm Catlin.

Previously, 1204 had focused on UK property and engineering. However, following an internal analysis at Crowe, the underwriting team for that sector was either made redundant or left.

Ex-Catlin underwriters Janey Helson and James Lewis will write PI for year of account 2000.

Helson has been appointed underwriter, while Lewis becomes deputy underwriter.

Crowe said: "Janet Helson's professional indemnity and medical malpractice account fits well with the group's future plans."
