A dairy farmer has won damages of £175,000 in her court case against the manufacturers and the suppliers of defective farm equipment.

Helen Gibbins of Whitchurch, Hants, sued Sovereign Finance, Gascoigne Melotte (the manufacturer) and Birtles Services (the installer) after a faulty milking parlour that was installed on her farm affected the profitability of her business.

The parlour caused injury and infection to the cows and failed to cope with a planned increase in the herd.

Gibbins used LawAssist for her case. LawAssist is a special insurance scheme that provides finance for a case and protection from the cost of losing the equivalent of legal aid for businesses.
