There are plenty of people in the insurance industry with musical backgrounds.
Aon deputy chairman Max Taylor used to play the guitar and worked for a company that managed 1970s hard rockers Hawkwind. FWD's Ian Barrett used to be a roadie. Broker 'barons' Grant Ellis and Paul Meehan play in the band Broken Fretwork.
Even erstwhile Insurance Times reporter Liam Vaughan had aspirations of his band Regis Low being signed, rocketing him to riches.
Backchat has discovered one more: Bill Dewsall (pictured, inset), chief executive of construction start-up Gable, used to play drums with guitarist Gary Moore.
"I used to be able to fit into tighter jeans then," quips Dewsall.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
