All 220 staff offered redundancy or relocation packages

Direct Choice, the online broker owned by AA-Saga, is closing two call centres in Suffolk and offering its 220 staff redundancy or relocation to Kent.

As revealed on Insurancetimes.co.uk last week, Acromas, the holding company set up following the merger of AA and Saga, has already told staff the offices in Newmarket and Ipswich will close.

They also have been told to accept a redundancy package or move to the new Folkestone headquarters.

Direct Choice was acquired by The AA in 2006 before the car insurance giant’s £6.15bn merger with Saga.

A Saga spokesman said Direct Choice had outgrown its current offices and the company wanted to bring staff together in one location.

“We would be delighted if all 220 people decided to move to Kent,” he said. “But it is inevitable that for some the prospect of moving will not be right for them.” The relocation should be completed by July.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
