Bob Heap will assume responsibilities of departing Darrell Evans

Direct Line Group’s chief customer officer Darrell Evans has left the insurer, Insurance Times has learned.

An internal memo to the insurer’s staff said it was Evan’s decision to leave the company.

His responsibilities will be taken over by Bob Heap, who has assumed the role of Best for Customer programme director.

Evans became Direct Line Group’s chief customer officer in November 2012. He was previously managing director of sales, service and partnerships at the insurer.

Before joining the insurer he worked at its former parent Royal Bank of Scotland.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
