Cuts form part of £100m cost savings drive by 2014

Exit, sign, leave, quit, resign

Direct Line Group is looking at cutting about 100 jobs in its IT function, the company has confirmed.

The jobs are in the back office and IT development and testing teams.

The redundancies are part of Direct Line Group’s plans announced in August to target 891 roles for redundancy, which will pave the way for £100m cost savings by 2014. The group is curently in a 90-day consultation with staff.

A Direct Line Group spokesman declined to comment on whether the jobs would be outsourced, but said the group already offshored some of its back-office staff and was looking at outsourcing as part of the overall consultation.

Insurance Times revealed on Thursday that subsidiary NIG is planning to make a number of its broker-facing staff roles redundant next month. The redundancies are also part of the consultation.
