The Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA) has announced that its 2003 annual forum will take place in Rome between 5-8 October 2003.

Up to 1000 risk managers are expected to attend the forum, which will examine issues arising from the conflict in the Middle East, corporate scandals and terrorism.

FERMA president Thierry van Santen said: "Uncertainty is probably the key word to summarise our world today. Risk management, unfortunately, is not the solution; nevertheless better risk understanding, better risk awareness, a proactive risk management policy at every level, including citizens, corporations and service providers, and cities, regions and states, would help address most of the issues we are facing today.

"The FERMA Forum, once again, will show the way with numbers of topics, from global social and political issues to practical business experiences. Sharing ideas, sharing experiences, sharing new concepts to make social and business life more successful and secure, in few words to make a better world, is the aim of the Forum."
