ABI says it will continue to work with government as ‘faces come and go’

George Eustice has replaced Richard Benyon as the parliamentary under-secretary of state at Defra for natural environment, water and rural affairs.

On his Twitter page this morning Benyon revealed that he was no longer in the position after three and a half years and was returning to the back benches.

Within the Treasury, Nicky Morgan has also been appointed as economic secretary in the latest round of ministerial reshuffling by David Cameron.

This position is responsible for the retail financial services, including consumer finance and financial advice and capability.

Sajid Javid, who was the previous economic secretary, has been promoted to financial secretary to the Treasury.

His responsibilities will include UK financial services policy, reform and regulation.

ABI spokesman Malcolm Tarling said: “We will continue with our varied agenda with government as we engage positively with ministers and officials and look forward to working with the new incumbents.

“Faces will come and go and you continue to develop what you hope will be a positive relationship.

“They are important positions and we look to engage constructively with them.

“Our main role is to discuss the interests of our members with stakeholders in the government.”
